What does USDA-certified halal mean?

If you see the USDA-certified halal claim on a food product, it’s proof that it complies with Islamic dietary laws and is permissible for Muslims.

There are 2 types of Zabiha Halal meat/poultry: Zabiha Halal machine-cut, the most commonly found type in halal butcher shops and grocery stores, and Zabiha Halal hand-cut, preferred by a smaller percentage of consumers.

Kaiser Foodline beef and lamb products have always been hand-cut Zabiha Halal. Our poultry products are a mix of both Zabiha Halal methods. We’re specifying which ones are hand-cut by adding “Certified Hand-Cut” text on the packaging for increased transparency.
