Mediterranean cuisine is one of the most iconic among all the popular culinary cultures in the world. Markedly different from the famous Mediterranean diet, it is characterized by the ingredients and preparation methods used by the people of the Mediterranean Basin. Interestingly however cookery writers hold different opinions about what defines Mediterranean cuisine.

What is Mediterranean cuisine?

Many have argued this cuisine is defined by foods based on the trio of olive, wheat, and grape, which produce olive oil, bread, and wine. Others have contested that variations among foods from the Mediterranean Basin are many, and do not allow us to bunch them up under one title.

However, the more accepted view on the subject is while local cuisines of the countries on the Mediterranean Sea have a distinct character, the dishes common to them go beyond the olive, wheat, and grape trio. Irrespective of the incredible variations influenced by regional and local cultures, the ingredients and cooking styles remain similar. At its core, Mediterranean cooking relies on quality ingredients, and fewer spices to let the original flavors shine through.

So, today, Mediterranean cuisine is believed to include a flexible variety of ingredients – thanks to the biggest common factor, the Mediterranean Sea, which impacts the climate of the countries in the Basin. And, it also boasts foods like skewered and roasted meats, mildly spiced kebabs, and meat stews – courtesy of the region’s longtime historical connections.

Colonel Kababz Adana kebabs come in chicken and beef varieties. These Mediterranean-style delights are made from hand-cut Zabiha halal meats, herbs, and spices, using traditional recipes and cooking techniques. They are mildly spiced, high-protein, low-calorie, flavorful, and ready to heat and eat. You can make a delicious meal by adding a carb-y side dish like pita bread, fresh salad, and chili garlic sauce, or serve them as is – for a healthy snack to your untimely cravings.

Both Colonel Kababz varieties pack 8 large and fully cooked kebabs that you only need to shallow fry on medium heat for about 8 minutes before serving. You can also prepare them in a conventional oven or microwave.*
